Chimney Services in Port Washington, Mequon & Southeastern Wisconsin
WHY REAL CHIMNEYS
- You Talk to Rick. Not a Call Center. At large chimney companies, calling for a quote means waiting on hold, getting transferred to different departments, and never receiving the callback they were promised. At Real Chimneys, you call and Rick answers. He's the one doing the work, the one who knows your chimney, and the one who will pick up if you have a question after the job is done. You know exactly who is coming to your home before they arrive.
- Same Quality. Better Price. Large companies carry large overhead, offices, managers, advertising budgets, shareholders. We don't. As a small family business, we pass that difference directly to you. Rick has over 8 years of hands-on experience, and the work gets done right without inflating the price to cover costs you never benefited from.
- We Tell You What You Actually Need. Nothing More. Many large chimney companies pay their technicians on commission, which creates pressure to sell services whether the customer needs them or not. We don't work that way. When Rick inspects your chimney, he shows you real photos and video of exactly what he found, explains what needs attention and what doesn't, and gives you an honest recommendation. Telling a customer "you don't need to spend that right now" is not something a commission-driven technician can afford to say. We can.
- We Adapt. They Can't. Large companies operate by rigid manuals. If a job requires a creative solution or a schedule that works for your family, the answer from a corporate operation is usually: that is not how we do it. We make decisions on the spot, adapt to your schedule, and solve problems without needing approval from anyone.
- Our Reputation Is on the Line. Every Single Job. When a large company does substandard work, the technician moves on and the company hides behind their size. When we do a job, our name is on it. One bad review in this community affects us directly, which means our standard of care is different from the start. If something isn't right, Rick comes back and fixes it until it is.
- Your Money Stays Here When you hire a local business, your money stays in your community. It goes back into the local economy, into local families, into the neighborhood you share. That matters to us, and we think it matters to you too.

Wisconsin winters don’t forgive a chimney that’s been ignored. Years of sun, rain, and temperature swings wear down a chimney crown until it cracks, and once it does, water gets in, along with water the porous brick absorbs on its own. Every winter, that trapped water freezes and expands, making the damage worse and letting even more water in next time. It doesn’t stay where it enters, either. It travels through the structure until it shows up as a stain on the ceiling, often feet away from where the real problem is.
Rick has spent over 8 years inspecting and repairing chimneys across Ozaukee, Washington, Sheboygan, Milwaukee, and Waukesha counties. He knows what that damage looks like here, not from a manual, but from real chimneys in real Wisconsin winters.
At Real Chimneys, that experience is what shows up at your doorstep, not a guess.
OUR SERVICES
HOW IT WORKS
Step 1, You Call. Rick Answers.
No call center, no voicemail maze. Rick picks up, listens to what’s going on, and schedules a visit.
Step 2, Rick Gets Up There.
He gets on the roof in person, runs the camera down the flue, and documents everything with photos and video.
Step 3, You See the Evidence.
Before any work is discussed, Rick shows you exactly what he found. If it’s fine, he tells you. If it needs attention, you see it first.
Step 4, We Fix It Right.
Once you approve the work, Rick handles it the same day when possible. You receive a complete folder with before and after documentation when the job is done.
FAQ
How much does a chimney sweep cost?
Our chimney sweep starts at $299 and includes a visual inspection. If we find anything that needs attention, we'll show you the evidence and give you a clear price before recommending any additional work.
How often should I have my chimney inspected?
The NFPA recommends at least once a year, regardless of how often you use your fireplace. In Wisconsin, where freeze-thaw cycles and lake-effect humidity accelerate buildup and damage, annual inspections are especially important.
How do I know if my chimney needs repair?
Common signs include water stains on the ceiling near the chimney, a burning smell when the fireplace isn't in use, visible cracks in the brick or mortar, or pieces of clay or terracotta showing up in the firebox. If you notice any of these, call us before it gets worse.
Will homeowners insurance cover chimney repair?
Insurance typically covers damage from sudden events like storms, lightning, or falling trees. Gradual wear and deterioration is usually not covered. We provide written inspection reports with photos that you can submit to your insurance company if you're filing a claim.
What is the difference between a chimney sweep and a chimney inspection?
A sweep cleans out soot, creosote, and debris from the flue. An inspection evaluates the structural condition of the chimney, crown, liner, flashing, and cap. Our sweeps include a visual inspection, so you get both in one visit.
How long does chimney repair take?
Most repairs, including resealing, cap replacement, and minor tuckpointing, are completed in a single visit. Crown reconstruction or more extensive masonry work typically takes a half to full day. Rick gives you a realistic timeframe before starting any work.
